MakoletTime: Home Assistant Grocery List with NFC

MakoletTime is a Home Assistant project for creating visual grocery shopping lists. Instead of complicated inventory systems like Grocy, it provides a simple dashboard where household members can tap on product images to add items to the shopping list — perfect for the quick makolet (neighborhood store) run.

How It Works

  • Create a shopping list containing everything you typically buy

  • All items start as "complete" (in stock)

  • When you run out of something, tap the picture to add it to the list

  • Anyone in the household can do this from any device

  • Take the list to the makolet when shopping

Features

  • Visual grid dashboard with product images (200x200px)

  • Custom button cards using the Button Card plugin by RomRider

  • NFC tag support — stick a tag on your fridge to jump straight to the dashboard

  • One-tap add/remove items from the shopping list

  • Reset views for marking all items purchased or clearing the list

Setup

  • Requires Home Assistant OS

  • Install Button Card custom component from HACS

  • Configure the Shopping List add-on

  • Upload product images to /www/images/makolettime/

  • Create button cards mapping to shopping list items

  • Optional: Add NFC tag to your fridge linking to the dashboard
