An Android app for real-time visualization of Pikud HaOref (Home Front Command) alerts on an interactive map. The app displays live alert polygons over Israel with color-coded threat levels and includes a dedicated Jerusalem close-up view.

Features

Technical Details

  • Polls the Oref API every 15 seconds

  • Alerts persist on map for 30 minutes (5 minutes for pre-warnings)

  • 1,450 pre-computed area polygons from Pikud HaOref data

  • Built with vanilla HTML/CSS/JS, Leaflet 1.9.4 for mapping

  • CARTO Voyager tiles (OpenStreetMap)

  • Capacitor 8 for Android WebView wrapping

  • Requires Israeli network for Oref API access

Building

To build the app, run npm install to install dependencies, then npx cap sync to synchronize the Capacitor project, and finally use ./gradlew assembleDebug in the android directory to produce a debug APK.
